How Stage 5 Generators Can Reduce Harmful Emissions

Making a TV or film production uses a lot of energy, so it is worth looking for a low emission generator to hire to reduce the project’s carbon emissions.

Making a TV or film, doing roadworks, or working on a plant uses a lot of energy, but at a time when every industry is trying to cut down on their carbon emissions, it is worth looking for a low emission generator to hire instead of one that uses more electricity.

Read on to find out how using Stage 5 generators for your next project can help keep energy use to a minimum.

More energy efficient

The reason these generators are able to use less power is simply because they are more efficient with their energy consumption.

Despite this, they remain high-performance machines, so users can be confident they will still operate in the same way and to the same capacity as other generators that require more energy to power.

They are, therefore, particularly popular in ultra-low emission zones (ULEZ), as they are guaranteed to use less power than other generators.

Meets emission regulators

Low emission generators are an ideal choice to hire, as companies can be confident they will meet both European Union and UK emission regulations for diesel generators.

According to new EU Stage V emissions limits, 130kW to 560kW engines have a particulate matter limit of 0.015g/kWh. This is a significant 25 per cent lower than limits set by US regulations.

So if projects are taking place in Europe or the UK, this needs to be factored in. Teams might need to use more energy-efficient equipment to meet emission regulations.

Remotely controlled

Stage V machines are also able to reduce their energy output as they can be remotely controlled.

This enables operators to stop and start the engine promptly, so no energy is wasted by having it on when it is not required. By being able to take action quickly, this prevents emission levels from rising, helping project managers to keep control of their energy usage.

Silent generators

Another way Stage V machinery can limit the amount of energy it requires is because it does not waste any power by producing noise.

These ultra-silent generators, therefore, operate without causing unnecessary volume, so all the energy is focused on providing power to the equipment it is plugged into.

At the same time as helping teams to meet their low carbon emission targets by limiting how much energy it uses, silent generators are also better for society.

As they do not produce as much noise as other generators, they can be run during the night, as well as throughout the day, without disturbing the local community.

According to UK law, if noise exceeds permitted levels between 2300 and 0700, these incidents can be reported to the council, and the local authority can issue warning notices for the nuisance.

Silent machinery, however, can be run 24 hours a day, as they do not exceed 34 dBA if the underlying sound is 24 dBA or 10 dBA if the underlying noise is more than 24 dBA, as stated in the noise regulations.
